How I'm Exercising {Forget health, this is for hotness}

How I'm Exercising {Forget health, this is for hotness}

After a slightly dramatic food related post, let's take it up a level and talk sweat!

Embarrassingly enough, I'm doing a workout program that can be found on bodybuilding.com. If that's not bad enough, it's called Shortcut to Shred... (cue snickering).

I've actually done it before, and there are definitely no short cuts involved. Since diving back in, I'm reminded about how awesome it is. It's about 1000000x times more awesome if you do it with a friend (but what isn't?). Nevertheless, this program makes me feel strong and super sore but not worn down.

It's a 6 day cycle (chest/triceps - shoulders/legs - back/biceps with multi-joint exercises and then the same three splits with single joint exercise selection: 3+3=6). After each exercise you do one minute of cardio.

One thing I love is that the cardio element is completely customizable. I've been doing a lot of leg/glute exercises (jump squats, fast goblet squats, KB swings, jump lunges, box jumps, skaters), core work (plank shoulder taps, mountain climbers, TRX twist/reach), and pure cardio (sprints, jump rope, and rowing).

The magic happens two places: effort + consistency

It's a 12 week program so the pure length of the commitment is nearly guarantees success. On top of that, the harder you push yourself, the better your results will be.

With my renewed commitment to sleep, and to not over-stressing my body with exercise, I'm working out 3-4 days a week. Each workout takes 60-75 minutes including foam rolling to warm-up. As always, I do my best to get 10,000 steps, especially on my rest days.

It feels good to excited by my workouts for the first time since I left my awesome fitness families in San Antonio.

If you're looking for a great program that's not too complicated, I'd recommend you check it out! I just print out the workout sheets and take them to the gym (with a pen!). Although I'm not currently taking clients, I'm happy to chat if you have questions on your workout routine. January 1st is right around the corner... now is the time to start getting ready!

What are you doing for exercise right now?
