It's February 1st... What are you waiting for?!
Yes, I know. You are all saying the same thing to me. You would think, being that January is the biggest time for new health beginnings, re-starts and jump-starts, that I would have reappeared last month.
Well, I have all sorts of reasons "why not"... I've been consumed with my new job, I haven't had any brilliant ideas of what to write about, the holidays were busy... and on and on.
The truth? Starting again seemed really daunting. I got out of the routine and talked myself into believing that writing one single post was just more than I could handle because it would lead to... what? It would lead to getting back in a routine of something I love? A habit of feeling happy and positive because I get to potentially help others? Wow, seems like a bad cycle.
So what about you? What is the REAL reason you didn't start in January?
Too daunting? --> Do you feel like you have a long way to go? There is so much to do and change that you don't know where to begin?
Solution: Start small. Take a walk and don't make any resolutions about when you are going to walk again.
Too scared? --> Are you nervous about exercise being difficult? Or that you won't be able to stick to your changes?
Solution: Play the "What's the worst that can happen?" game. I don't think you'll find something so scary that you can't start walking or eating vegetables.
Need help? --> Don't know what to do? Are worried about doing the wrong thing?
Solution: Ask me. I always have time to talk about health and fitness. We can email, or g-chat, or talk on the phone. It doesn't cost anything and you'll be doing me a favor because I really miss helping.
I'm not making any grand proclamations that I will post something every day because that's too intimating for me. I am telling you (and me) that if you just START, it cracks the door open for more good to flow into your life.
